Dr. Laurencin joined the Scientific Advisory Board of TherageniX in 2024. He is a pioneer of the field of regenerative engineering and an expert in biomaterials science, stem cell technology, biophysics, gene therapy, and nanotechnology.
Currently, Dr. Laurencin is the University Professor and Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regnerative Engineering, an Institute named in honor of him. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Medicine, and an elected fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
He is the first surgeon in history elected to all four national academies in the United States. In Europe he is an elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, an elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, an elected Fellow of Academia Europaea, and an elected Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences.
